Been gone since Saturday. Went home to recoop. Feeling refreshed. Here I am.
I am posting tonight in the inner layers of Tidelands nature center. I am making the plan to complete this mural Sunday night. I have a good course layed out ahead of me which I constructed by some new painting techniques I learned to help speed along the Entire Painting process.
Enough of the technical mumbo-jumbo! I wanted to tell you how cool today was...I woke up at 5:30 a.m. in Jacksonville and drove here in 55 degree weather on the Burgman. It was a nice crispy ride! Proving myself as a true Hard-core Filipino scooter Master! I got to the Nature Center at 7:30 a.m. before anyone. So it allowed me to set up and unpack in relative peace. Although there was an early D.N.R. Tree Climbing Course going on across the road in the reserve. I was invited over. The Dude was like 63 and climbed trees for the Goverment in Panama. I hope I am in that kind of good Shape when I am getting that age. I was too busy to go over but I still went over and checked them out and brought the trainees extra water for the thirsty and the challenged. Anyways, I got back inside Tidelands and started cleaning off my sketch marks still left on top of the painted surface and then Melanie came in and saw my art, she's in charge of the entire 4-H staff on the island. She loved it and stayed a while to look at my portfolio. We talked awhile and discussed plans for doing some other projects on the island!!! She was very impressed with what I was doing and could not wait to see the final project. Getting back to work I started laying down the layers on the trees bark and limbs. I used some drybrush techniques along with some airbrush to give the trees a very realistic look. I will include pictures later. I worked from left to right on the mural and Top to bottom. I always feel like working the hardest section first allows you to conserve your creative energy later for when it is needed. I feel like I am gaining new levels of technique and style each painting I do, and that is a good feeling. I worked till 5:30 p.m. and brought some persimmon cake my Mom made to the three cooks that work at the 4-H center. Roosevelt is a gardener and has herbs and flowers growing outside of the restaurant. I think that is cool! Well, I ate ate Supper and am starting to work again. I already worked over to the middle trail halfway point and am going back to work now. I am taking pictures everyday of my process. So when I get done and have the time to post I will add them to the post. I like to show you how the painting process unfolds. Because sometimes...that is the Funnest part. Hee-Hee!!!
much love,

Sounds like some Creative Mojo is happening up in them thar woods :) Super cool! Your process is inspiring - especially the "work out the more difficult part first" - reserving some creative energy for later. Good advice :) I will take that into consideration when I attack my various and sundry projects. We've had a very productive evening down here in sunny Jacksonville. "DJ" - the ring-necked snake - is slowly getting used to our touch. He completely emptied his water cup - thirsty reptile! He now has mealworms for breakfast, lunch and dinner - and a cupful of fresh H20. We at the Southside substation look forward to the next Noblelements installment :) Happy painting! Stay warm.
P.S. Remember: just click on it until something happens . . . (*smile*)
